Consumer mood in a tailspin

Over March–April 12008, the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) fell 9.9pp in Ukraine, to an unusually low 88.0. It was nearly two years ago, in Spring 2006, that this survey last registered such a bad consumer mood and such dramatic changes. Then, the CCI fell 12.2pp to 84.9. Whereas consumer confidence was typically close to neutral these last two years, since it started worsening in the first two months of spring in 2008, it has become clear that most Ukrainians are really feeling pessimistic now.
